I’ve been shooting a lot of black background portraits lately, and they’ve quickly become one of my absolute favorite styles—timeless, artistic, captivating. If you’ve ever considered hiring a photographer (Hello! Me!) for black background portraits, here’s a little peek into how the magic happens.
Surprisingly, I don’t bring a black backdrop at all. Instead, I use the natural light at the entrance of your barn and create as much darkness behind the horse as possible by closing doors and turning off lights. The solid black background comes to life during the editing process afterward. A clean and tidy barn aisle is definitely helpful, but don’t stress—any remaining clutter or debris disappears in post processing. I can also remove lead ropes, reins, or even my “naked halter” so the final images focus entirely on your horse’s beauty and presence.
The result? A stunning, refined portrait that highlights your horse’s unique personality and elegance—art made just for your walls. If you’d love a portrait session that truly showcases your horse’s beauty, my Artistry Package may be just what you're looking for! Reach out and let's make something beautiful.
